App Platform

FrankenPHP is an exciting modern PHP application server built on top of Caddy. It offers significant performance benefits over traditional setups by running PHP as a long-lived process and integrating directly with Caddy’s robust web server features. I’d love to see native support or official build templates for FrankenPHP + Caddy on App Platform. This would allow Laravel (and other PHP) developers to take full advantage of modern PHP hosting approaches without having to resort to custom VPS setups. Benefits: • Native HTTP/3 support via Caddy • Performance boosts via long-lived PHP processes • Modern deployment stack aligned with other modern languages • Great for Laravel, Symfony, and other modern PHP frameworks Please consider adding support or at least an official guide/template for using FrankenPHP with App Platform.

Some apps hosted on App Platform don't want just anyone making connections to them (even if they have their own auth in place - defence in depth). It would be useful to have a "Trusted Sources" feature similar to Managed Databases where you can add IPs and other DO sources to an allow list that has access to the app and drop any other connection attempt.

To this day it is only available to purge the cache for compute services with doctl and the API, but not yet for the app platform.

To benefit SEO, I would like to redirect the apex domain ( example.com ) to the www subdomain ( www.example.com ). Currently the HTTP Redirect rules only apply to the paths, and the static website also has the root path / in use. Ideally I can select a domain redirect per domain, and choose the type of redirect e.g. 302, etc. This could also be setup for the starter domain, for the same SEO reasons.

I would like to see an option to modify Cloudflare behaviour or completely disable it for App Platform, since Cloudflare sometimes acts like a man-in-the-middle and modifies the sourcecode sent by the app, which means you can't really be sure that the client gets what you send from the app.

We are looking for sending scheduled updates to the users of the application. We are doing I in others platform providers by using configuring CRON jobs. This is a sort of missing feature in App Platform. looking forward to be available soon.

When you create a new app in app platform Cloudflare CDN is enabled by default. This creates a lot of overhead in requests if you use it with your own CDN. eg. My CDN -> App Platform Cloudflare CDN -> Origin server. We should be able to disable App platform’s CDN via App Platform settings.

It would be nice to have a build/release and run/web for the Procfile. Currently only a single "web: " line option works. In the UI there is a "Build Command" and "Run Command" that does not map to the Procfile functionality. It would be nice to have this available. My example is: Procfile: release: python manage.py collectstatic --noinput && python manage.py migrate && python manage.py createsuperuser --noinput web: gunicorn config.wsgi:application --worker-tmp-dir /dev/shm This file does not work fully and only runs the "web: " line. Combining would be problematic as I only want the release to run once during the build step. That would hurt me when I have multiple web instances.

The scaling of App platform form is restricted to a region. As the deployed project grows and get from traffic from different regions of the world, the app platform deployment does not able to provide fast experience to the users from other region. At least there should be an option to scale your app through different regions apart from horizontal and vertical.
